The Definitive 200 -- Where Would You Be Without Them?

The Buena Park Library District is pleased to announce the addition of more than 60 titles to our Music CD collection for your listening pleasure. This is in response to the Definitive 200 campaign launched by the National Association of Recording Merchandisers and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The campaign which asksWhere Would You Be without Them?” is an attempt to rank some of the most commercially and critically successful albums of all time. The list of 200 ranked albums celebrates the classic recordings by favorite iconic and contemporary artists and is proclaimed to be albums that every music lover should own – or check out from the library.

The list can be found at http://www.definitive200.com/. The top ten albums on the list are:

  • Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club by the Beatles
  • Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd
  • Thriller by Michael Jackson
  • Led Zeppelin IV by Led Zeppelin
  • Joshua Tree by U2
  • Exile on Main Street by the Rolling Stones
  • Tapestry by Carole King
  • Highway ’61 Revisited by Bob Dylan
  • Pet Sounds by the Beach Boys
  • Nevermind by Nirvana
The Buena Park Library will be adding the titles that we do not already own in our collection to make sure we have at least the top 50 from the Definitive 200 list, plus selected other classics. Visit us at 7150 La Palma Ave., between Western and Knott, to “check-out” the music or visit our website to see what titles are available.
