It's TV- Turnoff Week April 24th-29th @ the Buena Park Library District

The Buena Park Library District will be hosting a variety of special programs during TV -Turnoff Week April 24th through 29th, 2006. The Library is located at 7150 La Palma Avenue in Buena Park, between Knott and Western Avenues.

The week kicks off Monday, April 24th at 4:00 p.m. with a special production presented by Kaiser Permanente’s educational theatre group. This twenty minute theatrical production entitled The Swashbuckling Adventures of Jamie in the World of Red, the Reading Pirate will inspire and promote the importance of reading to children ages four and up.

Other children’s programs during the week include:

  • Tuesday, April 25th at 10:00 a.m. – Storytime
  • Tuesday, April 25th at 3:30 p.m. – Craft time
  • Wednesday, April 26th at 11:30 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. - Storytime
  • Thursday, April 27th at 7:00 p.m. - Special storytime where teens will read their favorite children’s book
  • Friday, April 28th at 3:30 p.m. – Craft time
  • Saturday, April 29th at 10:00 a.m. – Storytime

Free Financial Planning Seminar -- Saturday, April 22nd

The Buena Park Library District is co-sponsoring a free financial awareness seminar with the Society for Financial Awareness, a California non-profit organization that provides financial education through seminars and workshops. The seminar, entitled, Investing Concerns in a “Fragile” Market, will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2006 from 12:00-1:00 p.m. in the Buena Park Library’s 2nd floor Board Room, located at 7150 La Palma Avenue, Buena Park, California. The guest speaker will be George McGehee, a member of SOFA.

Topics to be covered during the program include:

  • The U.S. economy is heating up. Learn how to grow your money wisely.
  • Why “down” markets create investment “opportunities” for the wise investor.
  • Do you know what you’re doing when you invest?
  • The “cash flow” eliminator: debt. How spending before planning is “terminal” to investing.

Bunny Rabbit Teapots on Display through April


A collection of charming bunny rabbit teapots and figurines are now on display at the Buena Park Library District. The spring display is courtesy of Linda Hudson, a long-time area resident. “The Bunny Lady” collection is on display in the lobby now through the end of April 2006. The Buena Park Library District is located at 7150 La Palma Avenue in Buena Park, between Knott and Western Avenues.

The hand-painted collectibles include those made by Fitz & Floyd, Otagiri and Omnibus. Hudson has been collecting for nearly 20 years, and has over 200 ceramic bunny figurines at her home. She is an Orange County native, born in Fullerton. She often has afternoon teas at her home for friends, using one of her unique teapots.
