Robert P. Williams is newest recipient of Buena Park Library “Wall of Stars” award

From left to right: Louise Mazerov (Library Director), Robert P. Williams

The Buena Park Library District announced its newest recipient for the "Jerry Guthrie Wall of Stars" award. Robert P. Williams, a long time Buena Park resident and a strong supporter of the Buena Park Library was awarded with his Star on Thursday, June 10, 2010. Mr. Williams is being honored for his generous donations to the Buena Park Library.

Robert Williams, who turns 93 this month, has been supporting the Buena Park Library with an annual donation he makes to the Library on his birthday each year. In addition, he generously donates recently purchased books, magazines, CDs and DVDs from his own collection. “I love my Library. I can see you folks are doing all kinds of wonderful things here, and I want to help out by giving you money to buy books!” Williams exclaims.

“The Library staff looks forward to his weekly visits and appreciates his donations to the Library. It is a pleasure to award him with a Star”, added Library Director Louise Mazerov.
The Jerry Guthrie Wall of Stars was started when Jerry Guthrie, a library volunteer received the “Spirit of Volunteerism” award from J.C. Penney for his dedicated service to the Library. Jerry wanted to be sure that all volunteers who supported the Library were acknowledged and so the Wall of Stars was created. Since that time many organizations and individuals who have provided support to the Library have been added to the Wall. The Wall of Stars is a permanent display in the lobby of the Library.
