The Buena Park Library District will present an author talk and book signing with Southern California author and highway historian Harrison I. Scott, speaking about his recent book on one of the most historic highways in our state — “Ridge Route: The Road That United California.”
The presentation at Buena Park Library District, 7150 La Palma Avenue, Buena Park, CA 90620, will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 13, 2006 in the 2nd floor Board Room. The program will cover the highway that links Northern and Southern California via Los Angeles and Bakersfield. When it opened in 1915 the Ridge Route was celebrated as a marvel of mountain highway engineering. It has been improved and renamed several times in the years that followed, among them: U.S. Highway 99, also called “The Ridge Alternate,” and Interstate 5.
Harrison Scott looks forward to sharing stories from The Ridge Route and answering your questions. Autographed copies of the book will be available for sale during the presentation at $20.00 including sales tax.
This program is free of charge for the author talk and the public is invited to attend. No reservations are necessary. For more information, please call the Buena Park Library District Reference Desk at 714-826-4100, extension 125.
