Meet Miles Corwin, former crime writer for the Los Angeles Times and author of nonfiction and fiction books. He will be discussing his works at the Buena Park Library on Thursday, June 30, 2011 at 6:30 pm. He has written three non-fiction books and Kind of Blue, which is his first novel. Corwin lives locally and teaches at UC Irvine.

Author Talk at the Buena Park Library: Victoria Patterson
Victoria Patterson, author of the novel This Vacant Paradise, will be giving a talk at the Buena Park Library on Saturday, June 25, 2011 at 2:00 pm. The novel was selected as an Editors' Choice by The New York Times Book Review. Drift, her collection of interlinked short stories, was a finalist for the California Book Award and the 2009 Story Prize.
She lives with her family in Southern California and teaches through the UCLA Extension Writers' Program and as a Visiting Assistant Professor at UC Riverside.

Travel the World Through Books This Summer By Joining One of the Three Summer Reading Programs--for Children, Teens, and Adults
Children, ages 2-12, are invited to join the Summer Reading Club called “One World, Many Stories” for a summer filled with reading, prizes, entertainment, and fun. It will begin on June 18, 2011 with a Kick-Off Celebration from 2:00-4:00 pm that will include a petting barnyard, face painting, games, and more. On Thursday evenings all summer long, the Library will host special entertainment programs for families including magicians, jugglers, storytellers, and more.
Teens, grades 7-12, are invited to join the Summer Reading Club called “You Are Here” for a summer filled with reading, prizes, game tournaments and more. Sign-ups will begin on June 17, 2011 with a Kick-Off Celebration from 2:30-4:00 pm that will include Wii, board games, ice cream sundaes, and prizes. Teens will have a chance to participate in a variety of video and board game tournaments during the summer, as well as a special after-hours Amazing Race.
Adults, 18 and over, have their own Summer Reading Program called “Novel Destinations” where they have a chance to win one of many great end-of-summer themed gift assortments. The Adult Summer Reading Program begins on June 18, 2011.
