There is still time to sign up for the Buena Park Library’s Summer Reading Programs. The Library has Reading Clubs for Children, Teens and Adults. Take a look at the Library’s display cases and lobby to see the awards you can earn for your summer reading. You might even win one of the fabulous prizes! The programs run now through August 23, 2008 so sign up soon!

Storyteller Steven Henegar -- Monday, August 4th

On Monday, August 4th, 2008, storyteller Steven Henegar will share both original and traditional American tales in celebration of the wonderful variety of stories that are shared among friends, families and communities. Steven’s funny and entertaining stories will be enjoyed by every member of the family. The show begins at 7:00 p.m., so come early, seating is limited.

Graphologist Paula Sassi to Present Two Workshops on Handwriting Analysis -- Saturday, August 2nd

On Saturday, August 2nd, 2008 graphologist Paula Sassi will present two programs on handwriting analysis at the Buena Park Library District. At 2:00 p.m., Paula will help participants discover The Write Job by using handwriting analysis to find out what job categories best fit their individual personality and abilities. At 3:30 p.m., Paula will present What is Your Personality Type? in which participants will have fun learning about themselves and others by discovering the secrets revealed through handwriting analysis. Allen Oshiro Presents Illusions by Allen At the Buena Park Library District

Magician Allen Oshiro will present a magic show at the Buena Park Library District on Monday, July 28th, 2008. Allen will astonish the audience with slight of hand tricks, incredible levitation, plenty of audience participation, and even a live rabbit and doves. This family show begins at 7:00 p.m., so come early, seating is limited.

Buena Park Library District to Host Guitar Hero III Tournament for Teens

The Buena Park Library District, located at 7150 La Palma Ave., between Knott and Western Avenues, will be hosting a Guitar Hero III Tournament for teens on Friday, July 25th, 2008 from 2:00-4:00pm in the library’s auditorium. Wii Olympics for Teens -- Tuesday, July 22nd

The Buena Park Library District will be holding a Wii Olympics event for teens on Tuesday, July 22nd from 6:30 -7:45p.m. Teens will be able to participate in such Wii Olympic events as track and field and swimming. Refreshments will be served.

Juggler David Cousin -- Monday, July 21st

On Monday, July 21st, 2008, the Buena Park Library District will present juggler, David Cousin. His comedy juggling show consists of audience involvement, interaction and music. This family show begins at 7:00 p.m., so come early, seating is limited.

Magic Workshop for Teens -- Saturday, July 19th

Magician Dave Skale will present his comedy magic show and workshop at the Buena Park Library District on Saturday, July 19th from 2:00-3:00 p.m. The workshop will teach teens basic magic concepts and skills. Teen participants will actually learn several tricks that they get to take home. Space is limited so come early.

Wii Carnival Games for Teens -- Tuesday, July 15th

The Buena Park Library District will be holding Wii Carnival Games for teens on Tuesday, July 15th from 6:30 -7:45p.m. Teens will be able to earn tickets to redeem prizes by playing such carnival games as skeet ball, balloon darts, shooting gallery hoops, ring toss, and more. Refreshments will be served.

Storyteller/Juggler Christopher Yates -- Monday, July 14th

On Monday, July 14th, 2008, the Buena Park Library District will present storyteller Christopher Yates as Lord Rusty. This family variety show is filled with stories, juggling and audience participation. The show begins at 7:00 p.m., so come early, seating is limited.

Storyteller Steven Henegar to Present Urban Legends: Truth and Lies from a Friend of a Friend -- Saturday, July 12th

On Saturday, July 12th at 2:00 p.m., storyteller Steven Henegar will present Urban Legends: Truth and Lies from a Friend of a Friend. Join Steven as he shares some modern urban legends. Part performance, part discussion, Steven presents a thoughtful, fun, and interactive presentation that will help participants to spot these stories, ask why we tell them, and what we are saying about each other. Steven also invites the audience to share the versions that they have heard. This program is designed for adults and young adults.

Teen Bunco Tournament -- Friday, July 11th

The Buena Park Library District will be holding a Bunco tournament for teens on Friday, July 11th from 2:00-3:30p.m. This is a simple team game of chance which requires no prior knowledge of the game. Prizes will be awarded to tournament winners.

Yahtzee Tournament for Teens -- Tuesday, July 8th.

The Buena Park Library District will be holding a Yahtzee Tournament for teens on Tuesday, July 8th from 6:30-7:45p.m. Refreshments will be served. Prizes will be awarded to tournament winners.

Dave Skale the Magician -- Monday, July 7th.

Magician Dave Skale will present a family magic show at the Buena Park Library District on Monday, July 7th. This show features tons of magic, loads of audience participation, comedy and even a live bunny. The show begins at 7:00 p.m., so come early, seating is limited

Independence Day Closure -- Friday, the 4th of July

The Buena Park Library District will be closed on Friday, July 4, 2008, in recognition of the Independence Day holiday, resuming normal hours Saturday, July 5, 2008, opening at 10 a.m. and closing at 5 p.m.
